Developed to serve families at St. James United Methodist Church and the surrounding community, the Children’s Weekday Ministries program operates Monday through Friday. In a safe and loving environment, we provide faith-based programs that nurture the educational, developmental and social growth of each child as well as provide a unique opportunity for participants to give back to the community at large. In our newly renovated education wing, we offer a half-day preschool, Parent’s Morning Out program, summer camps and MOPS program. A summary of each of these programs is below; for more information on these exciting and unique programs we invite you to explore our website.
St. James Preschool has been a staple in the Raleigh community for 50 years. It is a community-minded, half-day program that fosters within each child a desire to give back to the community. We introduce them to the gift of giving within the community through in-class activities on a weekly and monthly basis. Our staff provides opportunities and experiences that allow your child to grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically.
The Parent’s Morning Out program is an extension of our Preschool, offering parents who are not quite ready for a full program a safe and nurturing place to drop off their children. While you take a break, your child will practice socializing with other children and get used to being away from you for a few hours. Great preparation for preschool, Parent’s Morning Out includes games, story time, arts and music.
MOPS at St. James UMC is an extension of the national MOPS program which provides support for Mothers Of Preschoolers. We bring mothers from the community together twice a month to foster friendship and support for each other through our meetings and discussions.
Summer camps are held in June, July and August. We offer half-day camps for preschoolers and older children in grades K-5. Each week has specific themes with planned activities. Camp information can be found here.
